In 2018, I read The Art of Deliberate Success by Dr David Keane.

The book changed how I set goals and intentions. The Art of Deliberate Success lays out the ten behaviors that all successful people share. I have been applying this framework for the last five years.

Here's the 3 step formula to creating a life of deliberate success.

Vision - What is my Unique Life Purpose?

How often do you align your campaigns and goals with a clear, deliberate vision?

Creating my Unique Life Purpose acknowledges that no one else has my gifts, talents, and experiences. It gets me focused on creating a life I can be proud of. Being reminded of my purpose fills me with excitement and a sense of meaning.

Here's my Unique Life Purpose:

My Unique Life Purpose is to walk the middle path as I release my potential, pursue worthwhile goals, share my gifts, and feel deeply into the world as I allow my happiness to arise from within.

Having a Unique Life Purpose helps me quickly determine the relationships and habits to invest my time in.

Campaigns - What aspects of my life do I want to progress in this year?

High performers know something others don't: clear campaigns are like a compass for success.

Here are 3 of my campaigns for 2024:

  1. Look after my physical well-being.
  2. Engage in learning and educational activities.
  3. Undertake meaningful work that has a positive impact on the world.

Deciding I want to progress these aspects of my life makes goal setting super easy!

Goals - What milestones will contribute to my campaigns and Unique Life Purpose?

Most high performers fail not because of their vision, but because their goals don't match their campaigns.

Here a 3 goals that will contribute to my campaigns and Unique Life Purpose in 2024:

  1. To complete 8 x 1-hour pilates workouts by 29 February, or something better.
  2. To give my next Toastmasters Speech by 29 February, or something better.
  3. To apply to be a Volunteer Youthline Counsellor by 29 February, or something better.
